The holiday season is upon us! But let’s face it… we started thinking about the happy holidays after Halloween was over. Throw back your skull and bat decorations in that box you’ll be sure to release next year, search Queen Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas is You” on your favorite music streaming service, put up some twinkling lights, and you’re ready for some fun. this next season will bring you too. And that’s why these following various romantic vacation books should be on your list!
For many in the Latin/x culture, the holidays are big! For me, December 24 is the day to eat with your family. If you look at the table that day, you’ll find romeritos with mole, cod, apple salad, and turkey, among other things. We play games, like charades or any other board game that happens to be around. It’s a fun time to spend with your loved ones and we sure love to make it a party all the time. And then on December 25, the actual Christmas Day, you open your presents under the tree, eat reheated food from the night before, and that’s basically it. Some may watch football, but I know many do not follow that same tradition.
But Christmas is not celebrated everywhere during the holiday season. Let’s not forget that! There are more than 7 billion people in this world; some celebrate Christmas for religious reasons, for others it is a completely secular holiday, and still many others adhere to traditions such as Kwanzaa, Diwali or Hanukkah. This next list includes romantic holiday books that feature different winter holidays, as well as racial diversity and LGBTQ+ representation on the page.
