This is what is happening in the television world on Tuesday, October 5. All tenses are Eastern.
Accusation: American Crime Story (FX, 10 p.m.): On tonight’s episode, “Do You Hear What I Hear?”, Linda Tripp (Sarah Paulson) meets with the FBI and raises the stakes on the “crime” portion of the title. Deposition seems to be building on the momentum of last week’s episode; as Ines Bellina noted in her summary last week, “The Phone Hour” (a Bye bird reference) finally pointed to “a question that has been lurking since the premiere: what is the crime at the center of? Impeachment?”
star girl (The CW, 8 p.m.)
super girl (The CW, 9 p.m.)
Dave Chappelle: The Closer (Netflix, 3:01 am): There are no real jokes in this trailer, just a lot of hedging. We are very curious which subjects will form Dave Chappelle’s sixth stand-up special for Netflix. But his partnership with the streamer has already earned him three Emmy awards: two for pre-recorded variety specials and one for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special.
Do you think he’ll get Charlie Murphy to tell the Prince’s story one more time? It’s honestly the best Prince story. Let’s take another look:
Escape the undertaker (Netflix, 3:01 am): Ever watch a horror movie where characters enter a haunted house and make bad decisions? And you say, “If I were, I’d make good decisions.” Was that daydream WWE themed? Because Netflix just made your day with this interactive special.
Are you afraid of the dark? (paramount+): The first five seasons of this Nickelodeon classic are now streaming on Paramount+, and you should know, they’re way more terrifying than anything found in the 2019 remake. Even the intro is scarier! There are people who still don’t want to rewatch it, even now, because of the nightmares the original series gave them. If that was you, and you are ready to face your fears, more power to you. Just skip the pop episode.
