Animal Crossing: New Horizons gets a ‘Black Friday’ in the game

There are a few things guaranteed in our time on this earth: life, death and the slow and inevitable claws of Black Fridays.

Apparently, the fictional corporate holiday has found its way from American suburbs to everyone’s favorite island lifestyle game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. How? Well, thanks to a few cunning fans, we now know that Nook’s Cranny will be hosting his own Black Friday sale in the game this year. It’s called “Nook Friday” and the event will reduce all items sold by the Nook brothers by 30% from November 26th to 30th.

It’s not the best deal in the world, but it’s a sweet perk. It’s nice too, because it’s well timed with the release of a ton of new elements, as part of the new 2.0 update.

To begin with, the event may seem contrary to the ethos of the game; after all, we are on an island vacation. Our days are ideally spent doing home improvement projects, fishing, cooking – whatever happens to pique our interest. Tom Nook does not care, though. Tom Nook just wants you to buy all those shiny new items. (Suddenly, it makes a lot of sense to need Lottie’s resort escape.)

We have yet to see if there will be a large number of villagers camping outside the shop waiting for it to open.
