MANILA, Philippines – Team Rebisco lost to Iranian champion Sirjan Foulad, 25-15, 25-22, 25-5, in their first match at the 2021 AVC Asian Club Volleyball Championship on Friday in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

Sirjan Foulad, who won his first Iranian Super League this year, was on point early in the third set, burying Rebisco 9-0 early on.

Team Rebisco couldn’t carry their momentum from the second set where they fought back from an 18-12 deficit to get to one, 23-22, courtesy of Joshua Umandal’s two consecutive spikes.

The Filipinos will face the AGMK of Uzbekistan on Saturday at 11am (Manila time).

The two best teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals, while the two worst teams in each group will meet in the qualifying match from 9 to 10.

The middle teams in each group, 3rd and 4th, will also play in a knockout round for 5th to 8th place.
