Lahore: Head coach Mohammad Wasim assured the players, who were replaced in the T20 World Cup squad today, that they will remain in future plans after the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Azam Khan, Mohammad Hasnain have been eliminated for the mega event, while Khushdil Shah moved to roaming reserves. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Haider Ali and Fakhar Zaman are included in the 15-member squad, replacing the aforementioned players.
“It must be tough for Azam, Khushdil and Hasnain to miss out, but they still have a lot to offer in their careers. They are in our future plans as there is a lot of cricket to be played after the 2021 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and in the run-up to the 2022 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia. “
“After reviewing the performance of the players in the highly competitive National T20 and in consultation with team management, we have decided to include Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Sarfaraz Ahmed in the squad for the ICC T20 Men’s World Cup 2021.
“The three fit players bring with them a lot of experience and talent, and they bring greater stability, balance and strength to the flank.
Meanwhile, Wasim praised the intensity and high quality of the cricket played in the T20 National Cup, which helped them finish the team.
“Not only did the tournament provide the players with excellent match practice in the run-up to the UAE competition, it has also provided us with the opportunity to closely monitor the players’ progress and then make decisions that are in the best interest of the team for what will be a fierce tournament ”, he concluded.
