Former Sri Lanka cricketer Rangana Herath has been named spin consultant for the Bangladeshi squad to tour New Zealand for a two-match Test series. BCB has stated that they want to enter into a long-term agreement with Herath, as his experience will benefit the players on the team.
Bangladesh is scheduled to play a two-match Test series against New Zealand in January next year. Visitors must play the first test at the Bay Oval in Tauranga from January 1, and the second test begins from January 9. It is noteworthy that the quarantine restrictions in New Zealand have been relaxed and the Bangladeshi cricket team may have the opportunity to play a couple of two-day training matches.
Bangladesh Cricket Boards cricket operations chief Akram Khan has said Rangana Herath will join the Bangladesh squad as spin consultant for the New Zealand series. Akram Khan further added that the board wants a long-standing affiliation with the former Sri Lanka spinner.
“He (Herath) is going to New Zealand and he will be part of the team management during the test series of two matches. We are trying to sign a long-term contract with him, but so far he is available for the trip. From New Zealand,” ‘Akram Khan told Cricbuzz.
