Brock Lesnar allegedly refused to work with Jinder Mahal

According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Brock Lesnar refused to work with Jinder Mahal when he was WWE Champion. The two men were scheduled to compete against each other at Survivor Series in 2017. Before the pay-per-view, however, Mahal ended up handing over the title to AJ Styles.

Dave Meltzer noted that the reason for the title change is because of Brock Lesnar. The Beast didn’t want to work with Mahal, so WWE changed plans, leading to AJ Styles becoming champion. His reason for not wanting to face Mahal was not mentioned.

In the end Styles and Brock Lesnar had a great PPV game. However, Mahal’s title defeat meant that he did not head on to the WWE tour of India as champion, which took place shortly after the loss. Jinder had held the title for 170 days prior to that loss, meanwhile, AJ’s streak would last 371 days.

AJ Styles winning the WWE Championship from Jinder was also a historic moment. That’s because it marked the first time the title changed hands outside of North America. The match took place in an episode of Slap which was recorded in Manchester, England.

Brock Lesnar will return to WWE television this Friday in Slap. The new WWE Champion will head to the blue mark to have a showdown with Roman Reigns. It was confirmed today that the Tribal Chief will be on the show following his positive test for COVID-19 as he is now authorized.

Meanwhile, Lesnar’s next match will take place at the Royal rumble at the end of this month. He will defend the WWE Championship against Bobby Lashley in a dream match at the event. The Hurt Business start won a fatal four-way match this week on Raw to win the chance.
