Next chapter. Charlie Sheen‘s request to stop paying his ex-wife Denise Richards child support after their eldest daughter, Sami, moved into his home, was awarded, Us Weekly can only confirm.
“I think what happened today is extremely fair,” Sheen, 56, told exclusively U.S as he left the courthouse, where he appeared to be in good spirits on Monday, October 4. “It doesn’t just speak today, but it speaks to that same honesty historically.”
The Wall Street actor filed for an injunction in December 2019 to change the exes’ child support plan Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum, 50, has not filed opposition papers, judge said Alexander Giza at Monday’s hearing.
Sheen, who shares daughters Sami (17) and Lola (16) with Richards, attended the hearing along with his lawyer. Gregory Pedrick, but Richards didn’t show up. During the hearing, Pedrick asked the judge to order “zero alimony” for Richards, arguing that Sheen has had 100 percent custody of their girls since April.
Pedrick said no child support had been filed with the court regarding Sami and Lola, but the former couple had worked out a 50/50 schedule. However, that arrangement has changed in recent months.
However, a source told exclusively U.S on Monday that Richards was not at the hearing because she “works out of state, which Charlie was well aware of.” The insider said that “Denise never got this trial”, claiming that Sheen “did this on purpose”. [so she wasn’t able to be there].”
The source continued: “He filed an application two years ago and he kept pushing the court date. Denise kept asking when the date was and he blew her off. He pushed it out because he didn’t want records of the child support he paid Brooke [Mueller] to influence the case after he agreed to pay them both the same amount of child support.”
The insider claimed that the actor “has not paid Denise in at least four years. No child benefit. He owes her something. Lola also lives with Denise. When she is filming, she is with her father and sister. “
Sheen’s lawyer claimed Monday that the… Two and a half Men alum paid too much monthly in child support. The attorney noted that his client set up a $1.2 million trust for his daughters after Sheen filed his first petition.
The judge ordered on Monday that Richards’ child support should be set to ‘zero’, and this would be reflected retroactively to April 1, 2021, when the Three Musketeers actor started taking care of the girls full time.
According to Sheen’s lawyer, Richards owes him money for overpaying for so long, but he said Sheen chose not to recover the money.
The ruling came after Sami, the former couple’s daughter, made headlines last month for a TikTok in which she claimed she was “locked up” in an “abusive” house last year while living with the reality star.
The Anger Management alum confirmed in September that Sami had left Richards’ house and moved in with him amid the drama.
“Sam is great. I love her unconditionally and all my children,” the actor said U.S through his representative, Jeff Ballard. ‘We have a ball. GED here we come!”
In Sami’s video, which has since been removed, she claimed she “disliked” a year ago [herself], would not eat or sleep for days, be insanely depressed, hate school, etc.” noting that her mother’s house was part of the problem.
She noted that she is now “out of hell house” and “full of self-love” after dropping out of high school.
A source told exclusively U.S last month that Richards is “saddened” by the situation and hoped she and Sheen would get better at co-parenting.
“Denise is just like any other divorce parent who has to deal with a rebellious teenage daughter,” the insider said. “It’s better for Sami if Denise and Charlie had co-parenting for her during that time. They are not.”
A second source explained that the former Bravo star wants her girls to have “boundaries”, which they reportedly don’t get with their father. “Charlie is the good dad, and well, rules and curfews aren’t really set in stone,” the insider added. “And that’s why Sami went to live with her father.”
Sheen and Richards split in 2005 when the… Fat and the beautiful actress was pregnant with their second child. They finalized their divorce the following year. Richards adopted daughter Eloise in 2011 and married Aaron Phypers in 2018.
Sheen, for his part, welcomed twin sons, Bob and Max, with his then-wife Mueller, now 44, in 2009. The couple split in 2011.
At a second hearing on Monday, Major League the actor’s request for an injunction to reduce his child support with Mueller was addressed. The judge ruled that the hearing should be moved because Mueller was not present.
Mueller’s new attorney claimed her client never got the petition and she had “no idea” about the motion, having been held in the case late last week.
While Sheen’s attorney argued that his client will “testify that he and… [Brooke] talked about this [petition]The judge ruled that a court date in December is needed before the final verdict is made.
