Neeraj Chopra recently revealed that she cut her long hair just before the Tokyo 2020 Olympics as it constantly fell over her eyes and made it difficult for her to focus. The track and field athlete claimed a gold medal with a throw of 87.58 m at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In 2016, when Neeraj Chopra burst into the limelight with a gold medal at the World Junior Championships, the athlete sported long hair. He flaunted the appearance and also revealed that he looked good on him as he also claimed the podium at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games.
However, she decided to cut her long hair before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, by far her biggest assignment. The rest is history, as he took the field by storm on a humid Tokyo afternoon to send the spear up 87.58m in the final to claim a historic gold medal for the country. The javelin thrower recently revealed that he had cut his hair as it fell over his eyes and in turn made it difficult for him to concentrate.
“It kept falling into my eyes, the hairstyle definitely didn’t help. That’s why I cut it short. If something unfortunate had happened, people would have pointed my finger at my long hair,” said Neeraj Chopra, as reported by India Today.
“I tried wearing a cap and even covering my head. But nothing worked in the competition. When I felt the final brake, my hair used to fall forward. Even sweat was dripping down my face. 50 percent of my concentration was focused on manage my hair, ”he added.
