Drake looked gloomy when he was first seen in public after Travis Scott’s Astroworld music festival, which killed eight people and injured hundreds.
The 35-year-old “Girls Want Girls” rapper was photographed going incognito in a black hoodie and camouflage pants when he landed on Tuesday in his private jet, Air Drake, in Toronto.
Drake didn’t seem in the best of moods as he walked the tarmac, accompanied by security carrying his bags for him.
The OVO boss had played two songs onstage with Scott in the crowd shortly before the deadly crush took place in the crowd. He broke his silence on the tragedy Monday night.
“I’ve spent the past few days trying to wrap my mind around this devastating tragedy,” Drake wrote in a post on Instagram. “My heart is broken for the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and for all who suffer.”
He added: “I will continue to pray for all of them and will be of service in any way I can.”
Eight people were killed and more than 300 were injured in what authorities have called a trampling accident on the first night of the two-day festival.
Scott faced serious criticism after he continued to perform despite allegedly knowing there had been deaths in the audience and is now facing several lawsuits filed by concertgoers, including one lawsuit filed against both Drake and Scott.
“I am absolutely devastated by what happened last night,” Scott said in a statement after the show. “My prayers go out to the families and all those affected by what happened at Astroworld Festival.”
Scott, who shares 3-year-old daughter Stormi with Kylie Jenner, announced that he would cover the funeral costs of those who died during the concert and will also provide free mental health care and additional aid to those affected.
