Fantasy Waiver Wire Week 5: Samaje Perine, Hunter Renfrow Among The Best Free Agent Players

Monday Night Football generally produces at least one notable performance that catches the eye of fantasy football owners, and this week we got two, like Hunter renfrow and Jared cook each made cases to have permanent homes on the rosters. Both will be between the Top Week 5 Fantasy Waiver Transfer Pickups and Free Agent Additions, but none will be the most coveted. That honor belongs to the RB spouses Damien Williams and Samaje Perine and sleeper QB Trey lance…We think. All three backups looked set to start in Week 5 and possibly beyond around mid-afternoon Monday, but after new reports surfaced about the health of starters David Montgomery, Joe Mixon and Jimmy Garoppolo, we’re not so sure. . Either way, these guys, at the very least, will get picked up. after exemptions clear around 4-5 am ET on Wednesday mornings in the ESPN and Yahoo leagues.

You can find more information about Williams and Lance in our full list of free agentsas well as a series of intriguing in-depth pieces that would be worth taking this week. If you need a quarterback (Sam darnold, Daniel jones), RB (Kenny gainwell, Michael carter), WR (Jamison crowder, Darnell mooney, Randall Cobb, Curtis samuel, DeVante Parker) or TE (Dawson knox, Tyler conklin, Dalton schultz), We have something for you. We also have a bunch of streaming suggestions for Week 5 on TE and D / ST (plus a QB), which can be found in the end of this list. If you need a new kicker, you can refer to our Week 5 kicker ranking or admitting that reading up on fantasy kicking games is not a way for anyone to live their life and finally quit their league for one that doesn’t have a kicking spot next year.

PLUS WEEK 5: Complete list of exemptions

There could be up to three players (Williams, Perine, Lance) worth the top exemption claims this week. There could also be just zero. Because the Bears have said they won’t provide an update on Montgomery’s injury until after practice Wednesday, you’ll likely have to bite the bullet with Williams (who is also dealing with a bruise on his thigh). We know Montgomery’s injury isn’t too bad, but he could still miss several games. Mixon and Garoppolo don’t look like they will miss more than one game, at most, so Perine may still be worth it, but as difficult as it may be, you probably have to let someone else have Lance if you have a top three claim. . The relative value of these three guys comes down to the needs of your team and how much you believe in understudies.

Best Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups for Week 5

Unless otherwise noted, only players owned less than 50 percent of the Yahoo leagues considered.

Samaje Perine, RB, Bengals. It was originally reported Monday that Joe Mixon was “week to week” with an ankle injury after last Thursday’s game against Jacksonville. Later in the day, Bengals coach Zac Taylor said Mixon is “day to day“and we’ll practice to start the week. Obviously that’s much better news for Mixon’s perspective, but we probably won’t know if he’s adjusting in Week 5 until much later in the week. You may remember that Mixon was “week-to-week” for 10 weeks last year and missed the last 10 games due to a foot injury. It’s hard to know if Perine deserves a higher exemption claim or won’t even be worth next week, but it’s I’ll likely have to bid for him if you want him. He may be the Bengals’ starting running back against Green Bay in Week 5 and maybe even Detroit in Week 6. It seems worth adding the possibility of let Mixon continue to fight the injury.

WEEK 5 STANDARD RATINGS:
Field marshal | Running backwards | Wide receiver | Tight end | D / ST | Kicker

Hunter Renfrow, WR, Raiders. Renfrow continues to operate as the Raiders’ best wide receiver, and this may be the week that fantasy owners take notice. He caught six of the team’s eight highest goals for 45 yards and a touchdown Monday night, giving him at least five catches in every game this season and touchdowns in two straight games. Renfrow doesn’t rack up big yards, but he clearly has value in the PPR leagues. It’s a WR3 that pays off in most matchups, and it should continue to thrive in Week 5 against a below-average Bears defense.

PLUS WEEK 5: Complete list of exemptions

Jared Cook, TE, Chargers. Cook is owned by just 47 percent of Yahoo’s leagues despite a shortage of decent tight ends this year. That percentage will increase after he caught six of seven goals for 70 yards and a TD on Monday night. He’s been below average this year, but he’s had at least five goals in three of four games and plays explosive offense. It has many advantages going forward, although a Week 5 matchup against Cleveland won’t be a good place to use it. He’s still worth adding as he’ll be one of the best streamers in Week 6 against a Baltimore defense that entered last week tied for the most fantasy points allowed for TEs and dropped another TE score to Noah Fant.

Josh Gordon, WR, Chiefs. We’ve already said a lot about Gordon’s fantasy outlook, but here’s a reminder worth taking on a wheel after signing with the Chiefs. Yes, Gordon’s best days are behind him, but he couldn’t have gone to a better situation. It won’t be better than a third option for the NFL’s scariest offense, but that could still yield some big games given the quarterback you’ll have throwing the ball at him. At 30, he may not be completely finished, so if he can stay on the field (a big “yes”), Gordon could have value.

Rashod Bateman, WR, Ravens. In the shallow leagues, Bateman is an afterthought, but in the deep leagues, he’s worth the fly. Minnesota’s first-round pick has missed the first four games due to a core injury, but chances are high that he will return in Week 5. The Ravens’ passing game has been productive this year, and while Bateman could take a while to recover. acclimatized, it has many advantages. Grab it early in the week so you can keep it on your IR until you have to make another move on the list. TY Hilton (neck), Tre’Quan Smith (knee) and Michael Gallup (calf) are also eligible to come out of IR this week, so it doesn’t hurt to have one if you need receiver depth.
