Frank Lampard ready to dive as Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers moves to Manchester United – Transfer Notebook

Lampard careful when choosing the right club

Frank Lampard remains determined to land a job in the Premier League by the end of the season, despite missing three chances this year.

Lampard has been considered at Crystal Palace, Newcastle and Norwich City but remains unemployed as he remains cautious in choosing the right club while getting his managerial career back on track.

He left Chelsea ten months ago and hopes an ideal opportunity will emerge before the end of this term.

Sources indicate he has half an eye on the Leicester City situation in case Brendan Rodgers leaves. Rodgers is currently a favorite for the job at Manchester United and would likely have to make a big decision if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer loses his job.

The club’s profile at Leicester is the kind of platform Lampard would welcome when he returns. He had particular reservations about various aspects of the jobs available at Newcastle and Norwich.

Whether Leicester would see him as a good match remains to be seen – but him in the top tier would add another interesting story to the season after longtime England friend Steven Gerrard took the job at Aston Villa.

The contract situation of Noussair Mazraoui at Ajax is giving the English recruitment staff more and more hope that he will become available.

His contract with Ajax expires in June 2022 and without formalizing an extension there is a feeling that the fullback will become available as a free agent.

Leeds and Arsenal have both been linked, while Brighton and Manchester City also have him on their lists.

Valuable, reliable right-back options are hard to come by right now and Mazraoui, 24, could be one of next summer’s steals.

Gallagher is concerned

Conor Gallagher is said to have reservations about whether he will really stand a chance at Chelsea’s first-team next season – despite the club assuring him that he will.

Of the 22 players currently on loan, there is a feeling around Chelsea’s Cobham base that Gallagher and Billy Gilmour are the pair considered to be leading candidates to step down next season.

They have informed Gallagher that a good season at Crystal Palace will open the door for him, but sources close to the player say he still fears they will be tempted to bolster the squad through the transfer market – causing his chances of a breakthrough diminish.

Gallagher has been outstanding for Crystal Palace this season, breaking through in England’s line-up. He will return to Chelsea at the end of the season for talks about the next step.

Dean Henderson’s new loan availability will spark a battle to sign him in January.

Newcastle United will investigate after intermediaries began spreading news that Manchester United are ready to release him in January.

Last week we discussed the fact that many Premier League clubs will be unwilling to help Newcastle in their battle against the drop, so it would be interesting to see how United react to a loan offer from the Toon.

There is an expectation that other clubs will challenge them, with brokers now pushing him to a new home.
