It was meant to be a festive week in the Lachey household. Vanessa Lachey, star of NCIS: Hawaii, Celebrated Thanksgiving with family and then got ready to tour for her new cookbook, living from scratch, which will be released on November 30th. But first, she took to Instagram to share heartbreaking news with her fans. Her beloved Yorkiepoo, Wookie, passed away at the age of 15.
Vanessa told Today that she considered Wookie, who was named after a… Star Wars character, to be her firstborn. “Wookie is our firstborn. He’s the oldest male, and quite frankly, he’s often the most low-maintenance. He’s picky with his food, he’s the loudest, he needs the most attention. But hey, that’s what goes with the to be the oldest.”
Vanessa and her husband Nick, who shines on Alter ego, have three children together, Camden, Brooklyn and Phoenix. Nick said the puppy was preparing him for fatherhood. He told Today“Wookie was definitely a good training ground – a good test of real parenting… He’s always been a part of our family, and always traveled with us, and was a part of everything we’ve done. So we love the old boy.”
Vanessa shared a photo of her sweet pup running, with the caption: “💔 My Beautiful Wookie. You’ve made me a mommy and us a family. You’ve taught me more than you’ll ever know. The past few 15 years were the best years of my life, a HUGE part of it is because of you. Everyone loved you, Mr. Wookerson. Now all the doggies in heaven can have you. We love you and will miss you. ❤️🐾”
