Hollywood actor Kevin Hart defends Ben Simmons amid business stalemate

Ben Simmons has been the punching bag of the NBA media during the short offseason, but the Australian under fire has found an ally.

Philadelphia 76ers super fan and Hollywood star Kevin Hart blasted all criticism of the Australian during his business deadlock with the Sixers.

Hart admitted that he has spoken to Simmons amid the dispute with Philadelphia and said criticism of the star has reached an illogical level.

“I’m going to say this officially: Ben Simmons is a fucking star,” Hart said on the All The Smoke podcast.

“Philadelphia man, we are a different city.

“Look, you have to let the players play like they do. He came in playing like he does. Of course, this is a three. [point] shooting time in the NBA. [But] that’s not ben. He’s not that guy. He’s not that guy. Now, because of the media and how they position things, well, we somehow forget all the good things he did.

“Wasn’t he an All-Star? Wasn’t he the All-Defensive Team? What are we talking about here?”

After a nightmarish postseason, Simmons’ value has shrunk and the Sixers have been unable to find a suitable business partner. Hart said everyone has forgotten how talented the Australian is.

“But I tell you guys, as a point guard that man is 6’10. As a 6’10 point guard, if you’re telling me that’s not a valuable asset, then I don’t know basketball.

“I know him, I think he’s young, he’s a great guy, he has a great future and a great career ahead of him. And for him, this is just a moment to push and show progress every year.

“But I don’t like that right now today, we forget, we forget so fast. We forget so fast.

“… Do you know what the All-Defensive Team is? Do you know what that means? Do we know what an All-Star is, or what it takes to become an All-Star? [means]? Do we get it or do we just throw it out the window? I don’t think you do that with him.

“Wherever he goes, wherever he ends up, Ben Simmons is a fucking star,” he said.

“Whoever gets that guy, that damn potential, and that beast of a man, will see the return on their investment.”
