Axar Patel once again starred with the ball when Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The capitals won by three wickets to secure a top two result in the ongoing 2021 IPL.
By opting to bowling first, Delhi restricted the Super Kings to 136 runs despite a late bloom from Ambati Rayudu (55 *). Axar Patel fired CSK starter Faf du Plessis to get things rolling for Delhi. Ravichandran Ashwin also contributed a useful spell, returning with figures of 1/20.

The Gujarat all-rounder, who was awarded the man of the match, highlighted the importance of throwing the correct line and length at this wicket. Speaking at the end of the game, Axar Patel stated:
“It’s difficult, but important, to assess the lines and speeds that we needed to bowl at on this course. I thought there were five or ten runs left in the power game.”
Axar Patel picked up two plots today in Dubai to bring his plots count to 14 this season at an economy rate of 6.05.

The 27-year-old also played a crucial hand with the bat, adding 36 runs for seventh with Shimron Hetmyer. Axar Patel admitted that the plan was to search for singles.
“The discussion with Hetmyer was about the lines they would throw. He told me they would throw wide and asked me to play straight and go for singles. Such matches give you a lot of confidence in knockouts,” concluded Axar Patel. .
Shimron Hetmyer was undefeated in 28 runs on 18 deliveries to pass the goal with two balls to spare. Delhi will look forward to continuing their winning momentum when they face Royal Challengers Bangalore in their final league match on Friday.
