Is Brazzo under fire at Bayern Munich for the lack of incoming transfer funds?

It is not easy to be a sports director in times of COVID-19.

With all players undervalued, it has become impossible to recover a fair market price for even the most established players. Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan “Brazzo” Salihamidzic knows the pain well. With so many players nearing the end of – or near the end of – their contracts with the club, Salihamidzic has his work cut out for him.

After losing to David Alaba and Jerome Boateng for nothing and with Corentin Tolisso and Niklas Süle both on track for a possible “free” exit from the club, Salihamidzic is reportedly under fire for being unable to generate income from the sale of players per Christian Falk of Sport Bild:

Asked if Bayern could afford to keep him in doubt until the end of his contract in 2023 and then give him away for free, as Alaba did last summer, Falk said: “That has happened too often. Salihamidzic has already come under pressure internally for not generating a transfer fee.”

Should Salihamidzic lose both Tolisso and Sule for free and potentially risk going into the final year of Kingsley Coman’s contract without an extension or sale, things don’t get any easier.

It is clear that the next 18 months will be huge for Salihamidzic’s future at Bayern Munich.
