“It was easy for me” – DC’s Shimron Hetmyer on his plans against CSK’s Dwayne Bravo

Delhi Capitals (DC) batsman Shimron Hetmyer scored 28-of-18 with no out against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This blow guided his team home in match 50 of the 2021 Indian Premier League (IPL), in Dubai. This victory sees DC replacing CSK as the leader of the table.

The southpaw acknowledges that he knows his West Indies teammate Dwayne Bravo well. He also had practice during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and that made it easy for him to conquer the bowling champion of death.

“It was easy for me. I had enough practice at CPL. I knew him [Dwayne Bravo] it would widen with the field I had, and I just looked to cross and go straight to the ground against it and not midwicket or anything like that. I got two of them, and I’m happy with that, ”said an upbeat Shimron Hetmyer after the match.

Chasing 137, Shimron Hetmyer batted 98-for-five when DC needed 39 of 35 balls. With still 22 required 16-ball runs, Shimron Hetmyer was dumped by Dwayne Bravo for substitute outfielder K Gowtham in the long run.

“I thought it was out. He was praying and the boy missed it, so he was thankful. It was simply a matter of putting the bat on the ball. The end of 19 was where I thought I’d try to get a six and lower it as much as possible, ”said the 24-year-old Guyanese cricketer.

“I tell the guys that’s why they pay me”: Shimron Hetmyer

Shimron Hetmyer stated that his role on the DC team is to finish the games, and aim for as many endings as possible.

“It is very important for me to finish the games. I tell the guys that’s why they pay me, and I try to finish as many games as possible, ”added Shimron Hetmyer.

The leaders of the DC table will play the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday in their final league match of the tournament in Dubai.
