MANILA, Philippines – Former Ateneo star Jules Samonte joins the professional ranks when he signed a contract with Perlas in the Premier Volleyball League.
The team announced the signing on social media a month after Samonte formally said goodbye to Lady Eagles.
“This is his next,” the Spikers posted. “Welcome to the Perlas Spikers. Your fire and passion will surely bring a lot of energy to the team. “
Thank you for embarking on this volleyball journey with us. Your coaches and teammates are excited to work with you. “

Samonte was the UAAP Rookie of the Year for season 79 of the UAAP and won a title with the Lady Eagles in season 81.
Perlas will look to improve on his difficult 1-8 campaign in the Open Conference, where he struggled not only on the court but off it as well.
The Spikers had a delayed arrival at the conference after team members tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the start of the tournament.
Samonte joins other Ateneo products, Jem Ferrer, Jhoana Maraguinot and Mich Morente.
