Koei Tecmo had a fairly active 2021 with several new releases, but it looks like 2022 also holds some interesting potential.

Today, the Japanese website 4Gamer published a comprehensive article in which local developers shared their plans for 2022, and it includes several from the Yokohama-based developer.

We hear from Yosuke Hayashi, who you may remember for his work on the Dead or Alive series, who currently works as the general manager of the entertainment department.

He mentions that in 2022, Koei Tecmo will unveil games that have been underway for several years and that will pave the way for the company’s future. According to Hayashi-san, they will show “the full force of the current Koei Tecmo.”

President and CEO Hisashi Koinuma reiterated him, mentioning that 2022 will mark the release of more games developed by the company.

Team Ninja Fire Director Fumihiko Yasuda asks fans to look forward to future titles, including the action game set in the Three Kingdom era and another, which he personally instructs, which will finally take shape after years of planning.

Last but not least, producer Yosuke Kikuchi, known for the Fatal Frame series, mentioned that in 2022, his team will challenge the development of something they have never done before. It will take a long time before it can be published, but he wants to create something fun via trial and error.

A while ago, we heard that Koei Tecmo aims to release a new IP for consoles and PCs that can sell 5 million copies, on top of several each fiscal year capable of topping 2 million copies sold.
