Lovers of Teen Missing in East Lansing Don’t Give Up Hope as Search Continues

Loved ones, family and friends don’t give up hope that Brendan Santo will come home.

All this despite the teen being missing for over a week now.

“Something happened that made him go missing and we just need to find out what that something is so we can bring him back,” said Dawn Brewer, Santo’s aunt.

The search continues for Santo, a Rochester Hills resident and Grand Valley State University student who went missing last week while visiting Michigan State University.

“It’s something you wouldn’t wish on anyone,” Brewer said. “And it’s, you know, we said you see things like this and you say, ‘Oh, that won’t be us. We never will be.’ And then when it happens, it’s terrible.”

Brendan’s family can feel nothing but pain and uncertainty as they patiently wait for an update on what happened to him. His truck was found where he parked it when he arrived in East Lansing.

Brewer and Santo’s cousin, Brianna Clippert, remains hopeful that he will return safely. Santo was last seen leaving Michigan State University shortly before midnight, the day before he was scheduled to head to the big game against Michigan on October 30.

“He was here visiting friends,” Clippert said. “It was literally just right here at Yakeley Hall. It’s where he came from, but he was staying in the Brody neighborhood. So right across from the Kellogg Center there.”

Many people participated in the search. On Saturday, officers were handing out flyers and looking for clues.

“Our focus was just to get the word out that he was going to have everyone check their phones for footage they took Friday night or that weekend at all,” Brewer said.

The hashtag ‘find Brendan Santo’ is gaining ground on TikTok because of a video in which seemingly all commentators want the 18-year-old back home.

“A girl who is friends with a cousin of Brendan’s created the TikTok,” Clippert said. “I think she has about 80,000 likes on the video.”

Police believe Santo is still in the East Lansing area. That’s exactly why they searched MSU so carefully.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call East Lansing Police.

“We’re just hoping someone saw something and will come forward and help us get him home,” Brewer said.

Chase Berden and other MSU students say it’s hard to be a Spartan after Santo’s disappearance.

“I’m still in shock that no one has answers or clues about what’s going on,” he said.

Donavan Hill is 18 himself and can only imagine what he would do if he were in Brendan’s shoes.

“It’s terrible because when you’re 18, you’re still young, you know? said Hill. “You have so much you can do with your life.”

Anyone with information about the disappearance is asked to contact police.
