Media Molecule has announced Ancient Dangers: A Bat’s Tale, a new playable game that the studio made in its 2019 creation game, Dreams.
The game appears to be centered around two dungeon-crawling protagonists who must battle “horrible monsters” and solve “devilish riddles” to advance through the medieval surroundings of Ancient Danger. There is, of course, loot and wealth to be found in each of these dungeons, and there seems to be a cute bat at the center of the story, as the name implies.
As you can see in the trailer above, Ancient Dangers looks pretty good, and it’s hard to imagine it as a game made inside Dreams, which in itself is a game. Thanks to Media Molecule though for doing just that. Ancient Dangers also looks great, which is especially exciting because it’s already out today.
Here is the official description of Ancient Dangers:
Join teenage orcs Scoria and Gabbro as they team up with their new friend, Herb the Bat, on a quest to find the famous snozzleaf. Scoria and Gabbro will find the herb they need to cure their grandmother terrible snoring? Can their clever bat friend find his way home? Get started playing now and go and show them dragons what’s going on with your mess with teenage orcs! “
Ancient Dangers is a third-person dungeon crawler that features a single-player mode, where players control Scoria, and a co-op mode, which adds Scoria’s twin, Gabbro, to the mix. However, the co-op mode is only co-op. Media Molecule says new PlayStation trophies have been added to Dreams that players can also unlock while playing through Ancient Dangers, so if trophy hunting is for you, you will not want to miss this.
