Mohamed Salah receives a cheeky offer to join his Premier League rival as Liverpool delay contract renewal

Mohamed Salah has yet to fully commit his future by signing a new deal with Liverpool, with the star striker receiving a cheeky transfer offer to sign for a Premier League rival.

The Egyptian has been offered the opportunity to sign for Tottenham Hotspur if he turns down a new contract with Liverpool.

Spurs legend Teddy Sheringham says Mo Salah would be welcome in north London amid his Merseyside contract saga.

The 29-year-old has insisted he is not asking for “crazy” new terms, but reports have indicated that Salah’s party is demanding a salary of more than £300,000 a week.

With nothing decided, Sheringham, who also played for Manchester United, has weighed in on the debate, joking that Tottenham could produce an unexpected coup.

Salah is the man. He keeps producing. I’m surprised it took them this long to create a package for him,” he told talkSPORT.

“He has come out openly and said he wants to stay. You would like to think that Liverpool would want him to stay. Do it or he can come to Tottenham!”

“This is not a case of giving the player exactly what he wants, but Liverpool Football Club and the owners, I don’t think they will be forgiven if Salah leaves this club in the summer or in 18 months.

“He is a Liverpool legend, one of the best players the club has ever had, and it has to be resolved sooner rather than later.”

Meanwhile, manager Jurgen Klopp has remained optimistic about the situation, although the Reds have struggled so far in Salah’s absence, with the Egyptian out of international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We know, I know Mo means, we want Mo to stay,” Klopp said on Wednesday.

“That’s where we are. These things take time, I can’t change it, sorry. I think everything is in a good place and I am very positive about it.”

In other news, Liverpool have a golden opportunity to sign a star midfielder for free in this winter transfer window.
