Nintendo will continue to ‘actively use IP’ for future media projects

Nintendo's media projects

Well, Donkey Kong might be the next one

When Nintendo enters the movie arena, anything can happen. ONE Zelda show that actually gets green lit? ONE Mario cinematic universe? With enough money from Nintendo’s media projects, the publisher can start shooting more media.

Miyamoto explains the situation in detail in a recent investor Q&A that provides their justification for the expansion to Nintendo’s media projects outside the gaming arena:

“I have high expectations for Super Mario CG animated film. For decades, our approach has been to bring smiles to consumers by creating each product with great care. Also with visual content, we want to continue to create content that brings smiles to generations of consumers around the world. We have recently announced the release date of the film because production is nearing completion.

Going forward, we also want to actively use other IP. With visual content, people can experience Nintendo IP in many different places, so I think it’s good to have a lot of content available to people who do not have a dedicated gaming device. However, we still want to make each title with care, so I can not talk about a specific number. We will work hard to build a strong offer. ”

So we already know that Donkey Kong may be the next IP that Nintendo and Illumination tackle Mario movie. And you know what? All the pieces are in line. Seth Rogen is definitely down to making as many family movies as possible, and the whole “Donkey Kong family” formula is going to work perfectly in terms of serving up a screwball comedy on a silver platter for kids.

Oh, and guess what ?! They already have the amusement park design ready to go.
