NWSL live trading tracker: Sam Mewis to KC Current, Sarah Gorden and Julie Ertz to Angel City and more

To return to some of the trades that preceded the start of this live blog that will also play a part in the expansion concept when it comes to immunity, although it is partial in both cases:

  • The Spirit is safe from the Wave, thanks to that Tegan McGrady trade, but they’re still open to an Angel City expansion design.
  • Racing Louisville FC was granted immunity from Angel City in August as part of the rights deal from Christen Press – they are still on the board for San Diego.

With two teams completely off the board plus two teams partially off the board – and maybe more to come tomorrow – this should make the double expansion a little weirder than first expected, and at least a little shorter than a real event.

It still feels like a lot more movement is on the way, or at least the phones are ringing at front offices across the league. The trading deadline is tomorrow night (Friday, December 3) at 6:00 PM ET – but that doesn’t mean trades need to be announced by then, so we may see some of these trades formally announced early next week.
