Chelsea’s long-term defensive picture has received some welcome clarity today, as young Trevoh Chalobah has put pen to paper on a new long-term contract, signed for the next four and a half years, through 2026.
The 22-year-old was in the last two years of his previous contract, and while he is the only one of our top four central defenders to be signed after this season, it is great to secure his long-term future with the team.
“It is something we as a club are extremely proud to see Trevoh join with so many of his fellow Academy graduates in the first men’s team. When he scored in the first game of the Premier League season, it was an emotional moment for everyone involved in his progress so far.
“His performance in the early months of the season and his attitude and professionalism have impressed us and we are very pleased to be able to reward Trevoh’s progress with this new long-term contract.”

Chalobah even received a handy little announcement video.
Chalobah’s regular involvement with the first team is the latest success story from not only the Academy, but also the Loan Army, and he’s only just getting started.
“It’s quite surreal. It’s a dream for me to sign a new long-term contract for my boys club and hopefully that dream will continue.
“It was an incredible start to the season and something I never expected, but it just goes to show that the hard work I put in and lent has paid off. I’ve tried to impress the manager in preparation and then take that into the games, so it’s been good and consistency is now the key to keep those high levels.”
