Ohio State Announces Kick-Off Time for Purdue Game in Week 11

It was another weekend with another win for No. 6 Ohio State. The Buckeyes welcomed Penn State to Ohio Stadium for an overnight game and while the game was closer than expected, the Scarlet and Gray came out with a 33-24 win to advance to 7-1 on the year and 5-0 in Big Ten Play.

Next week, the state of Ohio will hit the road again to take on Nebraska at Memorial Stadium. While it wasn’t a top-20 opponent like the Nittany Lions, the Buckeyes will still have a challenge in Lincoln. The Scarlet and Gray then return home to face Purdue in what, depending on how the results go, could be another ranked vs. ranked matchup, as the Boilermakers climbed into the top 25 two weeks ago before falling out. .

It was announced Monday that Ohio State and Purdue will kick off at 3:30 p.m. ET and that the game will air on ABC after the Penn State-Michigan game.

The Buckeyes and Boilermakers have met 56 times in the history of the two programs, with the Scarlet and Gray holding a 39-15-2 record. The first meeting took place over 100 years ago, all the way back in 1919, when John defeated Wilce’s Ohio State team Butch Scanlan’s Purdue 20-0 in Columbus. The Buckeyes won six straight games against the Boilermakers before Purdue went on to win 12-0 at Ohio Stadium in 1938.

Perhaps the most famous or infamous win in the series came in the final meeting in 2018. Despite being big favorites, the Boilermakers then upset – No. 2 Ohio State 49-20 at Ross-Ade Stadium. This was the second largest margin of victory by Purdue in the series. Including that win, the Boilermakers have won three of the last six games against the Buckeyes and four of the last nine, so Purdue has had the Scarlet and Gray’s number as much as any Big Ten team in the last 15 years or so.

The only game left on Ohio State’s schedule without a start is the November 20 game against Michigan State at Ohio Stadium. That kick-time for that game should be announced next week to complete Buckeyes’ 2021 slate.
