Okoye: Super Eagles will not underestimate Sudan

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye says the team will do everything to win against Sudan in their second group match at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, Completesports.com reports.

The three-time champions are heavy favorites to win the contest following their impressive performance in a 1-0 win against Egypt on Tuesday.

Sudan, on the other hand, opened their campaign with a 0-0 draw against Guniea-Bissau.

Despite the class difference between the two teams, Okoye insists that the Super Eagles will not take the Jediane Falcons for granted.

“First of all, I look forward to the three points and then a clean sheet is always good. It’s a sign of a good defending and competitive team, yes we will be good,” Okoye told NFF TV before the match.

“It was a good performance against Egypt. I think we competed well, it was a collective performance. We need to stick to this level and we can beat anyone.”

“We have set a high bar and we have to stick to it. We have to keep working hard and avoid distractions.”
