LiAngelo Ball is not a bad basketball player.
I had been saying all season that there is an NBA team that should sign him.
He has the potential to be a rotating player in the league and he brings an immediate added relevance to any team.
He is currently in the Greensboro Swarm, the G-League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, but can sign with any NBA team.
In his first game of the season, he had 22 points at 13-09 from the field and 4/7 at the three-point haul, all of which he did from the bench in just 24 minutes.
Three teams to sign Ball:
1.) The Indiana Pacers: Right now they are only 4-7 in the new season and have dealt with players inside and outside the lineup. They didn’t have a first round pick in 2020 and don’t have many young prospects on the roster. Chris Duarte (their 13th overall pick in this year’s draft) is sensational, but he is actually older than Ball. As for Isaiah Jackson, their other rookie selected in the first round this year has been out with a knee injury. Not to mention that the Pacers were just plain boring to start the season. Adding a player to Ball’s fame is not only good for the potential he has, but also for some added relevance from fans and the media.
2.) The Chicago Bulls: This one is clear. While his younger brother LaMelo is on the Hornets, his older brother Lonzo is on the Bulls. The Bulls are also looking great to start the season with a 7-3 record. Two of their best young players (Coby White and Patrick Williams) have been out for extended periods. He is clearly very familiar with the team’s point guard, and it would be exciting to see him play in the NBA alongside his brother. He would be the perfect young player to take a chance and add depth.
3.) The Milwaukee Bucks: The Bucks won the NBA Championship last season and will start this season 4-6. It is clear that they are slow coming out of the gate and have also dealt with injuries to key players. The 82-game regular season coming out of a long playoff run will be hard to get excited about every night. Bringing in a young player like Ball would be a good chance to bring some excitement into the regular season for a team more interested in how it fares in the playoffs. He could also come to a team with a really good culture, and learn from one of the best strikers in NBA history in Giannis Antetokounmpo.
