PAK vs WI: Pakistani Mohammad Hasnain and Iftikhar Ahmed dropped a sitter.© Twitter
The Pakistani men’s cricket team has been running in the T20I format this year. They reached the semi-finals of the T20I World Cup 2021 and followed it with a 3-0 laundering of the Caribbean at home, showing the depth and talent they possess in the format. But despite the presence of some world-class batters and bowlers in their ranks, Pakistan proved once again how fielding remains their Achilles heel. It was the eighth over in the West Indies innings when Shamarh Brooks mistimed a Mohammad Nawaz delivery only to be given free by two converging Pakistani fielders, Mohammad Hasnain and Iftikhar Ahmed. The entire episode reminded fans of previous occasions of similar mishaps that brought Pakistan’s poor field play to the forefront.

Brooks’ shot fell in the long area right in the middle of the two fielders as both looked at each other in hopes that the other would seize the chance.
However, that was not the case when the batter got another chance while the two Pakistani players involved reluctantly recreated the comic events between Shoaib Malik and Saeed Ajmal a few years ago.

Fortunately, the fallout did not affect the outcome of the match as Pakistan recorded a seven-wicket victory and completed a 3-0 whitewash in the T20I series at home.
Pakistani openers Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam scored individual fifties to help their team chase a hard goal of 208 runs in just 18.5 overs.
