‘I won’t be funny because I’m no longer fat’: Rebel Wilson has confirmed she will host the BAFTAs in 2022 as she joked about her 5.5 stone weight loss – even pranked Prince Andrew
Wow: Rebel recently made headlines for her dramatic weight loss, revealing earlier this week the very easy way she lost 5.5 stone (35 kg) during her ‘Year of Health’ in 2020 (pictured left in 2001 and right this month )
She wrote: ‘I am very honored to be hosting the EE British Academy Film Awards in March where Covid will no longer exist as it will clearly have been canceled by then. It’s going to be so much fun!
“I don’t want to put any pressure on this – I know I won’t be funny because I’m no longer fat.
“And besides, I’m not going to ‘sweat’ with nerves because I have a weird medical condition where I can’t sweat… or offend people because of my cute Australian accent.”
Prince Andrew of the Rebel comes after he claimed in a 2019 BBC interview that he was never sweaty on the dance floor with sex accuser Virginia Giuffre in a London club in 2001 because of a condition that makes it impossible for him to perspire.
Rebel continued, “So basically I’ll just be there to hang out with Dame Judi Dench and together we’ll both try to bond with Daniel Craig. And yes, I do mean ‘band’.

Presenters: Last year’s BAFTAs were hosted by Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary who had to distance themselves and there was no audience in attendance
Amanda Berry OBE, Chief Executive of Bafta said: ‘We are delighted to welcome Rebel Wilson to host this year’s EE British Academy Film Awards.
“Rebel has stolen the show at several previous Film Awards, and we are extremely excited to see her bring her fantastic charisma and humor to the entire show as we celebrate the very best in film.
“We would also like to thank Edith Bowman and Dermot O’Leary, who did a fantastic job of hosting last year’s ceremony in exceptionally challenging conditions, and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”
Rebel has recently made headlines for her dramatic weight loss, revealing earlier this week the very easy way she lost 5.5 stone (35kg) during her “Year of Health” in 2020.
In an interview for Apple Fitness+, the actress admitted that walking — rather than doing endless intense workouts — has actually been her secret weapon for weight loss.
Rebel said a doctor at a health retreat advised her to take a walk, claiming it was the “best way” for her to shed the pounds.
Ouch! Rebel mocked Prince Andrew, saying she has a medical condition meaning she won’t be sweating
“The doctor said to me, ‘Rebel, the best way to lose unwanted body fat is to just walk,’ she explained.
Doesn’t have to be intense, doesn’t have to be uphill, just moderate walking for an hour a day. And if you can do that, for you, for your body type, it’s the best way to lose unwanted body fat.”
Rebel made headlines around the world after proclaiming 2020 as “Health Year” and has since lost about 35kg.
