Just wanted to stop by and let everyone know that the Ottawa senators actually ended their road trip in Philadelphia. And then, apparently, disappeared from the face of the earth.
It’s been ten days since we last saw our dear senators, and it sounds like it will be a few more days before they return to the game. Ottawa is scheduled to host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, but with the Penguins currently handling an outbreak, it sounds like the game is still up in the air.
And then we wait.
But in these Sens-loose times, almost any news will suffice. And this morning, Pierre Dorion and company gave us exactly that. Honest to goodness, Sen’s news.
This morning, the team announced that they have signed the 2021 first-round draft Tyler Boucher to an entry-level contract.
Boucher has had a largely uneventful year at Boston University, scoring just two goals and one assist through the first 17 games of the season. And the slow start is precisely why it sounds like the plan is to get Boucher to join the Ottawa 67s in the coming days. Pierre Dorion is expected to provide further details later this afternoon.
Here is Sens GM on the signing …
“We are happy to have Tyler under contract. He is a power forward who plays a heavy, physical match. He is driven, is strong with the puck, has a great shot and goes hard for the net. His good hands in tight areas will be of particular benefit to him in the future. We expect him to be an important part of this team’s future. “
Oh, and if that’s not enough, the team also announced that Matt Murray has been recalled from Belleville.
It’s good to be back.
