WWE 2K22 will be released in March next year

2K and Visual Concepts have released the next mainline WWE video game, WWE 2K22. The new game is scheduled to be released in March 2022, with a full unveiling in January 2022. The company notes that this should help the game leverage the momentum of ‘Road to WrestleMania’.

The video gave players a glimpse of some notable WWE superstars such as Roman Reigns, Goldberg, Bayley, Bobby Lashley, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, Sheamus, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rhea Ripley, Finn Balor, Ricochet and Kane. It also shows a bit of gameplay with Rey Mysterio. Speaking of which, WWE 2K22 box art will also contain the superstar.

2K notes that WWE 2K22 will have a redesigned engine along with new controls and graphics. It also claims that 85% of the playlist has participated in face scanning to ensure high quality models in the game. It further adds that 3,400 new animations have been recorded.

WWE 2K22 will be of particular importance to 2K. The latest mainline release, WWE 2K20, was extremely poorly received at launch. The game was largely ruined with several bugs and errors. Even the graphics were met with scorn. As such, 2K decided to put its annual release schedule on hold. Hopefully, 2K and Visual Concepts have used this time to fine-tune the game and create a WWE experience that fans want. With the full unveiling still planned a few months away, there is still time for the developers to make changes and polish things up.
