Xavier Foster Removed From Iowa State Basketball Team

Iowa State basketball coach TJ Otzelberger announced that Xavier Foster is no longer with the program. The announcement about the red shirt freshman from Oskaloosa was released Friday. “We hold our program to high standards and there are expectations that our student-athletes are responsible both on and off the field,” Otzelberger said. “After much thought, I have decided that this is necessary to further build our culture.” The specific reason for his removal has not been released. In June, however, search warrants were filed for Foster to obtain his DNA. Court documents show that Foster was charged with sexually abusing an 18-year-old woman. At a press conference Tuesday, Otzelberger said Foster was not practicing with the team due to health issues. “Yeah, he’s not available to practice yet because of some medical and health issues that I probably can’t discuss, unfortunately,” Otzelberger said. Foster played in seven games last season before being forced off the bench due to a foot injury sustained during his high school career. He averaged four points and about seven minutes per game.
