You really, really want to make sure your Pokémon Diamond / Pearl remakes are updated at launch

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond Shining Pearl

Nintendo has revealed that Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will receive a patch tomorrow, November 11, despite the fact that the games will not actually launch until next Friday, November 19th. Even more bizarre is the fact that the patch apparently adds quite a bit of the games’ content – including their opening and closing title sequences, content after the game and more.

Of course, the update will be available right away when you get your copy from November 19th (if you buy digitally, it will actually be downloaded with the patch installed right from the start). A complete list of the included updates can be found below and it is worth noting that you will need “approximately 3 GB” of free space to download it.

Ver. 1.1.0 (Released November 11, 2021)

  • Addition of Grand Underground, Super Contest Show, Union Room and Mystery Gift communication features
You will be able to enjoy local and online communication features in the Grand Underground, Super Contest Show and Union Room. In addition, you will also be able to receive gifts using the Mystery Gift feature.
  • Adding content after entering the Hall of Fame
Some content that becomes playable after entering the Hall of Fame, including Ramanas Park, will be added to the update.
    • Note: even if you have already entered the Hall of Fame before downloading the update, downloading it will allow you to play the additional content.
  • Adding some intermediate sequences and animations in the game
Some in-game cutscenes and animations will be added in the update, including the game’s final cutscene and the title screen animation that plays when the software opens.
    • Note: you can see the title screen animation by launching the software with existing saved data and with the update installed. Even if you have already entered the Hall of Fame before the update is installed, you can see the final cutscene by re-entering the Hall of Fame afterwards.
  • Other adjustments and corrections were made to improve the gaming experience.
  • Regarding a scheduled update after release
On the release date of the software, up to two players will be able to interact in local and online games in the Union Room, and you will be able to select the “Battle”, “Trade” and “Mix Records” features. In an update that will be made available after the software releases, the maximum number of players will be increased and the “Greeting” and “Capsule Decoration” features will be available.
In addition, trading with GWS in Jubilife City and the use of the Colosseum feature inside Pokémon Centers will also be added in a post-release update.

As you can see, the update is needed to enjoy the newly unveiled Ramanas Park, a place where you can catch legendary Pokémon from previous games.
